Where it all started…
We are a small family business driven by love and tradition, through and through.
Over 30 years ago, Steve and Jane Smith inherited the flower gene from her parents who were Dutch gladiola farmers in St. Anne, IL. Eager to join the industry as well, the Smiths captured audiences with their positive and exciting energy selling gladiolas out of (and on top) of their truck at local farmers markets in the Dayton area. Inspired by their customers’ desire for affordable wedding flowers, The Flowerman decided to invite customers to get involved in the flower experience. Always listening to customer needs as a beacon in their business, in 2001 the Do-It-Yourself concept was born!
Today The Flowerman has locations in Columbus and Dayton, Ohio. Jake Smith, son of Steve and Jane, has carried on the family tradition with his own flower shop, The Flower Boys, along with his business partner, Jake Rupp in Indianapolis, IN.
